I’m Szymon, a sailor with over 20 years of experience. Before the sailing life took over, I was playing bass in a cover band and somehow also graduated from music school on accordion – yeah, that combo surprises people. Music’s always been a big part of me, especially rock.
At the same time, I spent over 15 years in high-tech corporate jobs, working around some seriously expensive gear.
These days, sailing is my way to slow things down and clear my head. I run trips for beginners and experienced sailors – anyone who wants to learn something new or just escape the daily noise. It’s about relaxing, building confidence, seeing things differently… and yeah, I’ll probably throw in a few stories from all those miles at sea along the way.
You’ll have the chance to learn the art of sailing – from steering the boat to handling all the key operations on board. Wide open water, and well-marked routes make it perfect for both learning the ropes and refining your sailing skills. You can practice tacking and jibing, navigate with charts, and plan short passages between picturesque ports. Each trip combines hands-on practice with a touch of sailing theory, giving you a true taste of the maritime world.
Each stop has its own story: Enkhuizen with its maritime museum, Hoorn with its golden age architecture, and Urk, a former island with a proud fishing heritage. You can stroll along cobbled streets, enjoy fresh seafood on a sunny terrace, or simply watch the boats come and go. These towns offer a glimpse into the Netherlands’ rich seafaring past – and a perfect balance of exploration, culture, and coastal calm between sailing days.
As the sails fill with wind, you can sit back, breathe in the fresh sea air, and simply enjoy the quiet rhythm of the waves. Anchoring near a cozy harbor, watching the sunset over the IJsselmeer or Frisian lakes, and sharing stories under the stars – it’s a pure, simple kind of freedom. Here, sailing becomes more than a journey – it’s your time to relax, recharge, and feel truly present.
The IJsselmeer, Markermeer and Wadden Sea are the most remarkable sailing areas in the Netherlands – a vast freshwater lake created when the Afsluitdijk dam was built in 1932, closing off the Zuiderzee from the North Sea.
It offers an ideal setting for sailors of all levels. It is a beautiful blend of adventure and history.
